OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Through government and enterprise contracts, our subject matter experts have been supporting clients on many leading-edge projects to make great technological and programmatic achievements. Samples of related DoD tasks and our performing roles are listed below:
- Served as the Lead Systems Engineer for an OSD client to facilitate an IPT team composed of the government and industry stakeholders to review and consolidate Unmanned Ground Systems (UGS) and Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) requirements. This effort was to calibrate joint mission objectives and available technologies in order to establish a technical architecture and concept solution for future unmanned systems communications.
- Developed a comprehensive military waveform analysis that captured a wide variety of current capabilities, addressed adaptation issues, made recommendations to low-risk adaptations, and paved possible pathways for high-gain prototype ideas. This report identified radio repackaging and waveform enhancements activities that could be delivered for identified unmanned systems in the near term to meet the DoD technology road-maps.
- Defined a communications architecture and supporting requirements, outlining a modular approach to take advantages of standard-based cyber and radio technologies improving interchangeability, interoperability, and configurability for the operations control units as well as the target platforms with minimal integration and test efforts. Coordinated with government team and industry to develop a proof-of-concept for verifying the architecture in preparation for scale production.
- Provided professional leadership and waveform/radio systems expertise for an Army airborne networking radio acquisition office. Developed the requirements, market survey report, trade-space analysis, and acquisition preparation documentations for the technical director of the program office.
- Assisted the office in successfully releasing three Request for Information and Proposal. In preparation for these announcements, surveyed new technology opportunities, identified relevant requirements, developed solicitations, reviewed proposals, prepared procurement guidance documents, tracked program data, ensured compliance with regulations, and developed S&T demonstrators, insertion strategies.
- Matured the communications architecture to optimize data distribution and promote interoperability in leveraging multi-tier networks that support JTNC Software Communications Architecture (SCA). Managed a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) effort to assess the performance and functional implications of two next generation military waveform implementations operating in different Army Aviation scenarios, for the purpose of assuring the delivery of advanced airborne networking capabilities that meet DoD Net Ready KPP.
- Served at the Technical Director and Information Systems Security Offices of an AT&L client to assist with the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) of vendors' cross-domain solutions using the DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) . Led the router and cross-domain solution IPT for supporting the Army's Network Integration Evaluation event, a multiple levels of security networking environment connecting MILSATCOM, mid-tier networks, and tactical-edge island networks .
- Defined, created, and maintained the cross-domain architecture and related documentations for the vendors to obtain permissions for initial development test and evaluation (IDT&E) and follow-on assessment activities. Reviewed these systems to identify potential security weaknesses, recommended improvements to amend vulnerabilities, and documented task progress.
- Provided professional leadership and secured Information Technology expertise to an Air Force launch and test range client for conducting a vulnerability analysis against its IT infrastructure. This task involved gathering all assets and process information necessary to establish an assessment model and customized metrics functioning as benchmark to analyze possible internal and external weakness, including firewalls and other security measures. Assisted with media control, virus scanning, hardware and software control, and computer security. Reviewed system configurations to identify network setting weaknesses, recommended improvements to amend vulnerabilities, and document the efforts. The recommended approach for reinforcing the current environment was praised by the client as an effective and efficient solution.
- Developed a Launch Mission Assurance & Cyber Vulnerability analysis and mitigation report for the Joint Functional Component Command for Space (JFCC Space). The domain of interest included all assets on the ranges that had touch-points to external networks, the long-haul network, and the entry points to GIG.
- Served as the network management (NM) expert as part of a large engineering team supporting the same client. Developed the network management Government Reference Architecture (GRA) for the two launch and test ranges . The content of this GRA was adopted by the range NM requirements, the Launch/Communications CONOPS, and the launch and test range service CONOPS documents.
- Performed analyses of systems, processes, and planning activities, including the development of technical documentation and analyses of policies, and service order (SO) procedures from commercial satellite service providers and military satellite programs for a Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) client. Supported an effort seeking for seamless service integration between MILSATCOM and commercial satellite services. Authored a whitepaper reviewing the current SO process and propose improvements to streamline these flows.
- On behalf of a next generation satellite communications transformation program's Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) team, acted as a stakeholder representing the USAF SATCOM community to participate in the reviews of the DISA Network Management strategy, the DISA Commercial SATCOM and integration strategy, and the IRIS study.
- Led the Network Management requirements development for this satellite communications transformation program's SE&I. Collaborated cross-team activities to establish and review solution scenarios that supported this program's systems to DISA service and systems integration.
- The original philosophy of Network-Centric Operations (NCO) was about networking sensors, commanders, and shooters to flatten the hierarchy, reduce the operational pause, enhance precision, and increase speed of command. Satellite bandwidth in the context of NCO was restricted by the legacy infrastructure of space communications. This effort was to investigate technical feasibility of adopting the TSAT solution in order to break existing service silos caused by providers' different configurations.
- Sponsored by an USD(AT&L) client, this effort focused on assessing the DoD’s joint applications on a cross-echelon, cross-GIG networking environment using the Net-Centricity Evaluation framework. The objectives were to survey the existing configurations, identify possible service gaps, and suggest feasible solutions that can seamlessly integrate tactical network, strategic network, and GIG using standard technologies while meeting the DoD Net Ready KPP.
- Served as the Principal System Engineer of the Lead Systems Integrator to support an Army future systems R&D program. Developed and integrated a family of communications systems to realize the vision of NCO on the Army’s combat platforms such as Bradley, Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS), Intelligent Munition System (IMS), Non-Line-of-Sight Launch System (NLOS-LS), Small Unmanned Ground Vehicles (SUGV), and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). This Army’s next generation Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) solution was a collected R&D effort contributed by hundreds of defense vendors.
- Participated in key research and development, engineering, assessment, and evaluation activities to assure the progress of the new ad-hoc networking radios from the industry could be seamlessly aligned with the progress from the platforms vendors. Facilitated a series of working group conferences to identify gaps among vendors, escalated issues to the program leaderships, coordinated and obtained approvals of achievable solutions, mitigated program risks, and realigned project schedules accordingly.
- Defined radio management and Information Assurance architectures to facilitate NSA certifiable solutions, presented overarching management solutions to the government joint radio program office to increase the awareness of possible waveform integration challenges.
